HP Laptop Ryzen 5500U - Fail to resume from suspend (Black screen, requires reboot)

PROBLEM

New HP Laptop with Ryzen 5500U cpu (full inxi report below) fails to wake from suspend, resulting in a completely black (off) screen that remains unless rebooted. No keyboard, mouse, or power button presses "wake" it. Suspend fails whether entered from lid closure, the control panel (GNOME), or systemctl. The laptop is currently tri-booting Windows 11, PopOS (kernel 5.14.8), and Manjaro (kernel 5.16.0-1). Suspend works as expected on Windows, but not any Linux distro and/or kernel that I have tried - including 5.4, 5.10, and the above.

STEPS TAKEN

A few days trying different distro, kernel, and kernel parameter (e.g., iommu=soft) combinations. None worked. I also updated the BIOS to the latest from HP.

• Get an HP with Ryzen 5500U.
• Install any Linux distro
• Try to suspend and then wake
