6900XT 5120x1440 @ 240Hz not possible

Brief summary of the problem:

Setting 5120x1440 with 240Hz results in screen flickering I have tried with multiple cables that are for 8K (supplied by Samsung) End result if i manage to set it using Gnome display settings monitor flickers with odd display corruption. Lowering the resolution and upping the Hz works but not with native resolution.
