Issues with Ryzen 4750u integrated graphics on Lenovo ThinkPad L15
The problem and things I've tried:
I recently got a new Lenovo ThinkPad L15 (AMD) and had some trouble booting Linux. I narrowed it down to the GPU, and created this forum post on the Arch Linux forums to get some help.
I was always able to boot the system using the
nomodeset kernel parameter, and the forum thread also led to
pci=noats - both of which allow me to properly use the system.
If I attempt to boot with no extra kernel parameters, the system hangs before the login prompt and I have to hold the power button to power off the laptop.
Interestingly, if I boot using
amdgpu.exp_hw_support=1 as a kernel parameter, the system doesn't completely hang at boot. I can SSH in with no troubles, and pressing the power button once shuts down the system fine, but nothing renders to the display. This little bit of info probably isn't all that useful, but I might as well include it.
