System unstable without amdgpu.runpm=0
Brief summary of the problem:
- The system almost instantly crashes, if the kernel parameter has not been set: amdgpu.runpm=0
- I presume setting this kernel parameter has a negative effect on the battery drain due to the dGPU not being turned off.
Hardware description:
- APU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (Renoir)
- iGPU: AMD Vega 7
- dGPU: AMD Navi 14 Radeon RX 5500M
- System Memory: 2x 8GB DDR4-3200
- Display(s): 1920x1080 @ 144Hz
- Type of Display Connection: eDP
- Laptop model: MSI Bravo 17 - A4DDR-035NL
System information:
- Distro name and Version: Arch Linux
- Kernel version: 5.8.7, 5.8.8, 5.9.0-rc5
- Using Plymouth
How to reproduce the issue:
- Boot system
- It will crash just before any graphical action
- If amdgpu is loaded in the initramfs it crashes even earlier.
Attached files:
- Dmesg log of booting with kernel parameter is attached.
