Dear Devs,
ive got this really annoying issue with multiple boards:
- ASRock FM2A75 Pro4
- ASRock A88M-HD+
- ASUS A78M-E
The simptome is the same in every board, but just with A8-7800K Trinity(ARUBA). I've also tested with A10-7700K Kaveri(GCN1.1), but there was no problems at all. So I put the PC to S3 sleep, than wake it up. The monitor which uses DVI connector, works perfectly, but the HDMI one is mostly black, stays at sleep, doesnt displays information(out of range, etc), but sometimes a really flickering screen comes in for a few momements than disappears.
I hope its still a non-listed bug, I've checked multiple reports, but doesnt find thisone. Look at the attachments, dmesg log added.
Thanks
closing various applications leads to a crash. A couple of examples below. I set DRI_PRIME=1 as that uses the Radeon card and not the Intel. My laptop runs faster, cooler and quieter when I use this. Setting DRI_PRIME=0 does prevent the crashes. Firefox, Thunderbird and PyCharm all run and close just fine with DRI_PRIME=1.
## Description
When using multiscreen on the radeon driver, dpm is disabled. This means the adapter draws approx 35W more power due to no dynamic power management.

While I would love to continue to use this card + radeon driver (which works perfectly in all other regards), the extra heat generated make this not an option.

Multi-monitor configs are becoming more and more common - but they are almost unusable power / heat wise.

While this is probably a pipe-dream - what are the chances of getting some form of power management that isn't just "severely cripple the card"?https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/520A problem related to Radeon DPM causes a corrupted console and black X display.2023-05-25T06:02:02ZBugzilla Migration UserA problem related to Radeon DPM causes a corrupted console and black X display.## Submitted by Colin Carney

The contents of dmesg

Hello everyone,

I have a significant problem with my display related to the Dynamic Power Management of my radeonsi display driver.

I am running Arch Linux on my notebook computer, an HP EliteBook, model No. C7A70UT. It has an AMD FirePro M4000 video card, which is very similar to a Radeon HD 7750M, both part of the Southern Islands series. My video driver is Arch's current 'xf86-video-ati 1:7.4.0-3', which I suspect is a compiled and renamed version of Xorg's Radeon 7.4.

When I reinstalled Linux on my computer last fall, I set it up to boot to a console, and I may then start Xfce 4 from the command line.

The trouble is that as the computer boots, it at some point adjusts and clears the display. After that time, the console display is somewhat obfuscated by grainy vertical lines of red, yellow, and green pixels. The last message I can read before the display is adjusted is 'Reached Target Sound Card' and the first message in the corrupted display is 'Started trigger flashing of journal to persistent storage...' (the dots '...' are part of the message). There may be some messages that I am missing since I cannot pause the boot sequence - my notebook does not include a separate scroll lock key, and cntrl+s doesn't work very well.

More seriously, if I start X-windows the screen becomes completely black, and it remains black if I try to switch to another tty. I don't know if the computer is otherwise running normally, or if the operating system realizes something is wrong.

Fortunately, I can partially work around the problem by forcing the video driver to use the 'high' setting, e.g. by using the command
# echo high > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level
After running that command, any areas of the screen which are re-drawn (e.g. newly typed characters, or the whole screen after switching to another tty) are drawn correctly and X will run normally. However, my battery life is reduced from 3 hours to between 1 and 2 hours.

To the best of my understanding, my driver uses the setting in the file /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_state to determine its operating state, and this is set to 'balanced' by default. Changing the contents of that file to 'battery' or 'performance' does not resolve my bug. Nor does setting /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level to anything other than 'high' (i.e. 'low' or 'auto').

I first noticed this problem when I upgraded to the Arch 3.13.4-1 kernel (I think that was the first one which enabled DPM by default), and it still persists on my current kernel, Arch 3.16.1-1. Prior to that time, I only set the dpm performance level to 'high' prior to playing 3-D games, and I never had any problems.

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to assist with the debugging process (perhaps output from lspci or a screenshot), or if I should send my bug report to someone else.

Thanks in Advance,

## Description
DRI is working with direct rendering and hardware acceleration, but only working OpenGL application is glxgears and small example written by me using gtkglext. When I try to run yabause or any application that uses OpenGL then I've got this:

*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File radeon_swtcl.c function r100_swtcl_flush line 322
Rendering was 13 commands larger than predicted size. We might overflow command buffer.
***************************************************************************
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.

And then crash.

When I write dmesg I got this:

[drm:r100_cs_track_texture_check] *ERROR* No texture bound to unit 0
[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !

I'm using module radeon under ATI Radeon M6 (R100) and packages version under Archlinux i686:

ati-dri 7.8.2-1
xf86-video-ati 6.13.0-1
mesa 7.8.2-1
libgl 7.8.2-1

The DRI module is from 20090101, but was working ok with version from 20061018, so with Mesa 7.2 (2008).

I've tried to compile Mesa 7.2, but the DRI was not working (only swrast).

Please help me, I can't even watch youtube with proper speed. Only alternative for me is Debian Lenny that has everything (DRI) working ok, because it has the old version.https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/76ATI Radeon 9500: X, xdm and kdm freeze only when DRI is enabled2019-11-19T16:07:45ZBugzilla Migration UserATI Radeon 9500: X, xdm and kdm freeze only when DRI is enabled## Submitted by MrBobble

`Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Richland [Radeon HD 8470D] [1002:9996]`
as reported by `lspci`. I have a monitor `HP E27u G4` connected to this desktop via DisplayPort. When I boot up Ubuntu 23.04, the monitor initially shows the splash screen (indicating that the monitor does work) but then fails to detect a signal when it boots Ubuntu. Unplugging the DisplayPort cable and then plugging it back in fixes the issue (i.e. I can see the Ubuntu screen and everything works fine).
It might be worth noting that I have been working on ChromeOS Flex to try to figure out the cause of the issue because that is where I saw the issue initially. I believe that all my findings below apply to Ubuntu 23.04 as well; the issue certainly is able to be reproduced on Ubuntu 23.04.
On ChromeOS Flex, running kernel 5.15 with some backported changes from 6.1, this upstream commit https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon?id=01ad1d9c2888d51f2fb5b5ac88af8bd47d76937e seems to be where the issue started happening. Reintroducing the deleted lines to `drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/radeon_irq_kms.c`'s function `static void radeon_dp_work_func(struct work_struct *work)` fixes the issue (i.e. the monitor displays the GUI correctly without needing to reconnect the DisplayPort cable). (The deleted lines I reintroduced can be more clearly seen in this link https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/radeon_irq_kms.c?id=01ad1d9c2888d51f2fb5b5ac88af8bd47d76937e.)https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/852Black screen after waking from sleep2023-05-25T05:19:08ZBugzilla Migration UserBlack screen after waking from sleep## Submitted by Yury Goltsov

Waking the screen from sleep wakes it but all i get is a black screen. I am able to type and change ttys, etc, but after `systemctl restart gdm` as root the screen gets 'No signal'.
The setting that causes this is GNOME's 'Blank screen' option in Settings>Power>Blank Screen
I can confirm that AMD's proprietary drivers fix this.
## Description
With Radeon (any recent distro version including upstream 4.7-rc5), my Apple Cinema Display 23" gives a black screen when radeon loads.

The monitor is a fairly old DVI LCD 1920x1200x60. It has a fixed timing, ie, no scaler. It used to work with earlier versions of radeons but I haven't used it on a Linux machine for a couple of hears at least.

It works using the agd5f's current amdgpu, but not upstream which doesn't support the HAWAII. I isolated the difference that makes it work to the PPLL setting. This one liner fixes it:
Login screen garbled

Right after the initrd is loaded and console switches to KMS native resolution, the screen gets garbled. There are vertical blurs approximately every 1 cm of horizontal screen space. These blurs repeat regions of previous screen extate so the visible screen is only 2/3 of its true full size. Difficult to explain, therefore attached screenshots with a camera.

Sometimes, in irregular intervals the screen "resettles and shows its true size. This is both with dypm enabled and disabled. Booting without KMS is fine, no garbage on scree, both on console and under X.
## Description
A default Gnome install of either Fedora 25 or Fedora 24 (latest spin) Workstation, on a machine with a Radeon HD6320 (AMD G-series T56N) graphics chip running 1360x768@60Hz, has a display that most of the time is black on boot (reboot required -- hangs?), but occasionally completes booting with a display that all over shimmers with white noise, as seen in the following video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHW6kM4koQ0

The problem has been traced to this Linux kernel commit https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/ff0bd441bdfbfa09d05fdba9829a0401a46635c1 , made to fix [Bug 95206](https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95206).

Xorg logs and xrandr output seem to indicate the the same modeline is selected after this commit is reversed, even though the boot and display problems no longer occur.
## Description
Hello there, I'd like to report that since kernel 3.15 its nearly impossible to boot past the grub screen because post grub, during X init my monitor starts to endlessly power down/ power on. The only way to boot is to play around with the restart button, in arround 10 restarts, ~once I would get X to initialize properly. The other way is to put radeon.dpm=0 in the kernel-line. This way no errors occur, but I am left without dynamic power managemenent for the GPU.
