EDID parsing would allow drm_hwc to have proper support for display identification, HDR functionalities and preffered video mode selection. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/emersion/libdisplay-info could offer a robust EDID parsing and drm_hwc should consider taking a dependency on it.
