dhcp-send-hostname=false does not work
I do not want the WIFI spot I am connecting to, to know my computer's name (hostname). I would like NetworkManager to not send my actual hostname to the WIFI spot but instead to spoof it with some random name it creates.
I have added dhcp-send-hostname=false
in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/XYZ.nmconnection, under sections [ipv4] and [ipv6] (WIFI spot name is 'XYZ'). I think this is the right procedure as there is no global NM option yet.
I have restarted NM using: systemctl restart NetworkManager
but nothing happened.
I have rebooted but nothing happened.
How I test what name NM sends to WIFI spot:
I set my smartphone to hotspot and connect to that. There is an option to check connected devices. The connected device has my hostname.
NetworkManager version 1.30.4-1.fc34, Fedora 34, kernel 5.14.18
I have asked a question on SO here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/678919/set-arbitrary-or-random-computer-name-when-connecting-to-public-wifi
Thank you.
